| Singing and Playing |
|
By the beginning of the 3rd grade, students have enough music skills to begin putting them into ensembles. We work on our singing voices, using vocal exercises and short, fun songs. We sing rounds and partner songs to help the students become independent in their singing. With smaller groups participating, and with other sounds happening at the same time, singing correctly becomes harder.
We also sing with instruments. Students find it difficult to sing and play at the same time; but with concentration and practice, it becomes easier. |

Third grade has spent a lot of time this year singing and playing "Ding Don Diggidiggi Dong". After learning the song, we sang in a round, with half of the class in one corner of the room and the other half in another corner.
We also added xylophones while we were singing. The finished product sounded so good that I invited the classroom teachers in to hear us play. We also recorded it in class and emailed it to the principal of the school! |
