It is so hard to believe that the 1st 9 weeks is over. This is the last year in elementary school; therefore, it is our job to get your child ready to go to middle school next year. We will be working very hard preparing for the CRCT in April. This year your child must pass the READING AND MATH sections in order to be promoted to the 6th grade. |

Math We are working on a decimal unit in math. Please review the basic multiplication facts with your child at home. It is so important that he/she knows the basic facts.I plan to begin working on fractions soon. We will have a math vocabulary quiz every couple of weeks. Our next vocabulary quiz will be on Tuesday, November 17th over the first 40 words and the 1st 5 Rules of Divisibility. Please remember that math morning work is given EVERY Tuesday and is due back to me on Wednesday morning. MORNING WORK IS GRADED!!!
Rules of Divisibility
1. A number is divisible by 2, if it is an even number. 2. A number is divisible by 5, if the last digit is a 5 or a 0. 3. A number is divisible by 10, if the last digit is a 0. 4. A number is divisible by 3, if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3. For example, 135 is divisible by 3 because when you add up the 1 + 3 + 5 it equals 9 and 9 is divisible by 3. 5. A number is divisible by 6, if it is also divisible by 2 AND 3. 6. A number is divisible by 9, if the sum of its digits are divisible by 9. For example, 3,301 is NOT divisible by 9 because when you add the digits 3 + 3 + 0 + 1 it equals 7 and 7 is NOT divisible by 9. 7. A number is divisible by 4, if the last 2 digits are divisible by 4. For example, the number 4,312 is divisible by 4 because the last 2 digits are 12 and 12 is divisible by 4. |

English Each night your child has sentences he/she has complete in English. Here is a list of the things that must be done to the sentences.
1. Tell what kind of sentence each one is and put the punctuation mark at the end of the sentence. 2. Draw a line to divide the complete subject and the complete predicate. 3. Underline the complete subject once and the complete predicate two times. 4. Circle all the nouns in each sentence. 5. Tell if each noun is a proper noun or a common noun. 6. Label the simple subject. 7. Label all articles. 8. Put prepositional phrases in parentheses.
