Music and Art Behavior Management Plan

A letter of information for parents....

Dear Parents,
The following is a list of general information that we hope will be helpful to you and your child in planning for music and art classes this year.

1. Active participation in all activities is necessary if your child is to fully benefit from our programs.

2. Good sportsmanship, good behavior, and a good attitude are strongly encouraged.

3. Listening attentively and following directions are expected.

4. Art and music classes use various materials that must be handled carefully and safely.

5. Equipment in art and music is equivalent to a textbook in other subject areas. Your child will be held responsible for any damages caused by the misuse of any equipment.

6. Your child will receive a grade for art and a grade for music. Both grades are based on participation, skill, attitude, and staying on task. Non-participation for any reason will result in a lower grade.

7. EXPECTED BEHAVIORS: a.) accepts responsibility for his / her behavior b.) listens and follows directions c.) respects the rights of others d.) thinks safety first e.) does his / her best

8. A student will be sent to "Time Out" if any of the expected behaviors is not followed. After 3 time outs during a 9-week grading period, a note will be sent home that must be signed by a parent. The 4th offense will result in a grade reduction and a parent phone conference. The 5th offense will result in further grade reduction and a parent conference.

We are looking forward to an exciting new year in our music and art classes. Both the music and visual art programs follow both the county and state curriculums for the arts. The music department will perform various programs throughout the year and the art department will present an art show at the end of the year. We hope we can count on your continued support and involvement in our programs and are looking forward to working with you and your child this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at school.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Melissa McElmurray
