A letter of information for parents.... |
River Ridge Elementary Art , Music, and Physical Education
Dear Parents,
The following is a list of general information that we hope will be helpful to you and your child in planning for specials classes this year.
1. Active participation in all activities is necessary if your child is to fully benefit from our program. 2. Good sportsmanship, good behavior, and a good attitude are strongly encouraged. 3. Good listening skills, paying attention, and following directions are expected. 4. All classes use various materials that must be handled carefully and safely. 5. Equipment in the specials is equivalent to a textbook in other subject areas. Your child will be held responsible for any damages caused by their misuse of any equipment. 6. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be required to have a recorder and folder with lined notebook paper in music class. *See grade level supply list for color of folder. These items must be brought with them to each class or result in a sign-in. All students (PK-5th) are required to wear tennis shoes to PE. Failure to do so will result in a sign-in. 7. Your child will receive a grade for art, music, and physical education. All grades are based on participation, skill, and academics. Non-participation for any reason will result in a lower grade. 8.EXPECTED BEHAVIORS: a.) accepts responsibility for his / her behavior b.) listens and follows directions c.) respects the rights of others d.) thinks safety first e.) does his / her best 9. Students will be required to sign-in if they are not following our expected behaviors.
After 3 sign-ins during a 9-week grading period, we will send home a note that must be signed by a parent. The 4th offense will result in a parent phone conference. The 5th offense will result in a grade reduction and an additional parent conference. We are looking forward to an exciting new year in our specials classes. All specials programs follow both the county and state curriculums for the arts and physical education. The year will conclude with a week of Georgia themed events including a musical presentation, art show, and field days. We hope we can count on your continued support and involvement in our programs. We are looking forward to working with you and your child this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at school.
