Thank you for all of the candy, flowers, and words of support and encouragement during Teacher Appreciation Week. It feels great to be appreciated!
This week is Enrichment Week. China and the Olympics are our theme. Our class is Canada and we are excited about the many wonderful activities our enrichment teachers have planned. Be sure and have your child bring a book from home daily for "Getting Fired Up to Read!" Since AR is over, now is the time to read all of those books that are above or below one's assigned book level that are of interest! Remember our Field Day is on Wednesday. Our team color is purple so wear something purple that day if possible!
This week we will complete the fourth grade post-assessments in all subject areas.
In reading, we will be working outside of the basal. Our focus will be on nonfiction and reading for information.
In math, we will be applying all of the standards we have covered as we work to solve "Exemplars" which are multi-faceted problem solving activities involving numeric responses, written responses, and graphic or pictorial representations. Students must apply mathematical concepts in context, which requires higher-order thinking skills.
The AR party for the final term will be a Wild and Wacky Water Fun Day. Look for details and permission forms this week. The party will be on Monday, May 19.
The fourth grade fiesta is scheduled for the last day of school. We invite all of you to attend.
