We will be wrapping up the selection "What Rot! Nature's Mighty Recycler," with a test on Tuesday, November 10. We will read "The Great Kapok Tree," to finish up the Nature's Delicate Balance Unit. This story will take six days, putting our reading and spelling tests on Wednesday, November 18. We will review the unit and take the Unit 2 Benchmark Assessment on Friday, November 20.
In grammar we will continue our study of "The Sentence." We will focus on the types of sentences, as well as the parts of sentences including simple, complete, and compound subjects and predicates. We will also begin working on informational writing on Monday. Look for details that will assist your child in researching information for this assignment.
We have begun learning the long division process. We will utilize an organized sequence of steps for solving division problems involving one- and two-digit divisors with one-, two-, and three-digit dividends with and without remainders. We will have our Unit 2 Test on Multiplication and Division Test on Thursday, November 19. I will send a study guide for this to aid in preparation for the test.
