Application for Math Honor Society
MATH HONOR SOCIETY
- Approval from the National Headquarters of Mu Alpha Theta was signed on Dec 8, 2008 and the EHS Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta was officially dedicated on Jan 14, 2009. A total of 68 Charter members were honored.
- Membership in the EHS Chapter of MAT, involves qualification (see the application link above) and registration fees ($25).
- The main mission will be to provide tutoring to EHS math students in need and community service. Fund-raising will help cover travel and related expenses for math tournaments.
- New 2009-10 officers were voted in on May 4, 2009:
- - President: Joe Rizner
- - Vice President: Andy Loper
- - Secretary: Steven Hubbard
- - Treasurer: Stephen Baker
- Verification of tutoring hours and/or community service will be completed by Mrs. Swearingen (EHS Graduation Coach) and Mr. Shoemaker.
EHS MATH TEAM
- Policies regarding participation in math tournaments remain unchanged (see Bylaws below).
- The 2009-10 Math Team Schedule is being determined at this time. A new math tournament at EHS is being developed and will take place on Sep 26 in the Commons.
- Otherwise, travel fees for tournaments will be covered by EHS as funds are available. Meal costs (approx. $6.00) and related expenses are paid by the individual members.
