1.Students have three color cards on their desks. These cards are white, red, and blue, (in that order). Children are told to flip cards during the day each time they perform well, follow directions, or act in a way that is desired or expected. The object is for students to reach blue each day, (be recognized by an adult for a desired, "good" behavior or action). At the end of each day students record their color for the day on the classroom color chart. When they have accumulated 5 blues, they can choose a treat from the treat bucket. The following day, the color count starts over. Color cards begin each day in the original white. red, blue order. 2. When students misbehave and this misbehavior interferes with that student's learning, other students' learning, or the instruction of the teacher, the misbehaving student is told to put his/her name in the book. If misbehavior is excessive on a particular day, the parent is contacted on that day by note or phone call. The number of times a child's name is in the book each week is reported to parents on Friday in the weekly progress report. 3. Each day that a child's name is NOT in the book, he/she takes a Tootsie Roll as a reward at dismissal. |
