Objectives |
| By the end of this course the student should be fluent in spoken English and have acquired the social language necessary to be comfortartable in most situations. He or she should be able to write a short essay with good organization and be able to read nontechnical material. The student should understand most of what is said in conversation. |
curriculum |
Reading emphasizes fiction, history, and poetry, and ecology. Grammar is more complex, using compound and complex sentences in various tenses. Units are approximately two weeks long and include a story, an analysis of that story, a summary of that story, a grammar workbook unit, and other workbook material that may include grammar, vocabulary development, character development, maps and charts, or a research topic.
