Voice
A student with a voice problem may exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:
- Hoarse
- Breathy
- Harsh
- Unusually high or low pitch
- Unusually loud or soft voice
- Nasal speech
- Constantly whispering
- Periods of no voice

Voice disorders can be caused by vocal abuse, reflux problems, vocal fold pathologies, or other causes. It is recommended that any student who consistently exhibits these characteristics be seen by an ENT prior to being referred for speech therapy.
