PE Special Events
walking PE Walking Program
Walking Program: students in first-fifth grades walk once a week for twenty minutes. This is to improve their cardiovascular system through running. Each student tries to acquire eight laps which represents a mile on our track. The students can achieve different mile clubs beginning with five, ten, fifteen, and twenty. Certificates are presented to the students when they achieve this goal.
square dance PE PTO Participation
The physical education instructors help coordinate dances for the PTO programs. We try to involve many students in the dances such as line dancing, square dancing, and folk dances. Children really love to Dance!
ability fair PE Ability Fair
The Ability Fair is held every other year. With the coordination of the Special Education teachers this fair is for children in the traditional classroom to experience first hand how it feels to have certain disabilities and ways for us to adapt learning for students with special needs. This event requires parent volunteers.

Jump Rope for Heart is held in February somewhere around Valentine's Day. February is Heart Awareness Month and we encourage students to do things that will keep their hearts healthy. This event takes place during the child's physical education class. Children can bring in donations that are given to the American Heart Association. This year Blue Ridge collected $4,700.00.
