Photo Assignment Directions:
Each of the following assignments should be turned in on the given due date. Your photos should be mounted on black paper with your name signed in pencil in the bottom right corner. Attach a rubric to the back with masking tape.
FOR EACH ASSINGMENT YOU MAY TURN IN ONE 8X10 OR TWO 5X7 PHOTOS. IF YOU CHOOSE TO TURN IN 5X7 PHOTOGRAPHS, ONE MUST BE 35MM BLACK AND WHITE, BUT THE OTHER CAN BE 35MM COLOR OR A DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPH.
DUE DATES:
For the first five due dates, you may turn in any of the assignments (1-5). In other words, it does not matter the order in which they are completed, as long as you turn in one of the assignments on the given deadline. Photos 6 and 7 must be turned in at the end of the semester and I expect them to be your best work.

Assignment 1 TEXTURE OF THE BREATHING
Ruff! Ruff! Tweeet! Meow! Naahhhh! Mooooo! Ribbbbbitt! You get the idea. If it breaths, you can capture the amazing texture he, she, or it has to offer the world. Make this photograph interesting! You can capture them in their natural habitat, or you can place them in an obscure locale for contrast. Yes, the subject can be abstracted, but it should have all the qualities of a great photograph!!!! |
Assignment 2 PORTRAIT (formal/posed or casual/unposed)
It’s crunch time! Your talented friend has just been given an opportunity to move out to Hollywood to audition for several acting gigs. However, the agency needs a photo (headshot or full-body) that shows just have perfect he or she is for the big screen! |
Assignment 3 STRONG EMOTION WITH CREATIVE LIGHTING
Freeze! You have just come across a closet of movies reels that range from the 1930’s to present day! You want to mimic a mid-action scene in one of the movies you found. Use costumes, lighting, authentic setting in order to recreate the movie frame as believable as possible. |
Assignment 4 LANDSCAPE
A real estate investor has contacted you and asked if Augusta is an area worth investing in. It is your job to convince them that this is the place to be! Photograph a landscape in Augusta/Evans/Martinez/Harlem/Grovetown (or any other place around here that I forgot) that shows the best that your hometown has to offer. Make any real estate investor fall for it! |
Assignment 5 ADVERTISMENT
You are a struggling photographer who has just been given the ultimate challenge. A reputable advertising company has just contacted you and said that if you can impress them with you amazing photographic skills, they will send you to work in NYC and give you an apartment in Manhattan with a six figure salary! Your job is to convince everyone that sees your photograph to buy the product. You choose the product. It can be laundry detergent, a microwave, a stick of gum, etc. - just be convincing. (you can use digital camera, Photoshop, etc for this, but it must be printed out on quality photo paper).
