 Color Wheel |
Color Theory Color Matters Students reviewed the primary and secondary colors. Students learned that tertiary colors are made from primary and secondary colors. Students painted the colors in the labeled ovals appropriately. |
 Rooster |
Drawing and Painting Asian Rooster and Picasso's Rooster Students compared the lines, shapes and colors of an Asian Rooster painting with Pablo Picasso’s “Rooster” Drawing. Students drew the rooster through teacher instruction and the use of the ELMO. The students then traced the pencil lines with a black oil pastel. Lastly, students painted the rooster drawing with a variety black wash. |
 Jungle |
Drawing Henri Rousseau Students studied the jungle paintings of Henri Rousseau. Then students drew their own jungle scenes using a variety of lines, geometric, organic and overlapping shapes. Students colored their jungles with colored pencils. |
 Parrot |
Drawing and Painting Through teacher instruction and the use of the ELMO, students used a variety of shapes and lines to draw a parrot using a pencil. Next, students traced over their pencil lines with black oil pastels. Student’s viewed a power point presentation on parrots and discussed the colors and patterns that are found on a parrot. Lastly, students painted with a tempera paint wash. |
 Ceramic Pinch Pots |
Ceramics Students learned how to make a pinch pot out of a ball of clay. Students decorated their pinch pot with patterns. Lastly, the students glazed their pots with an under glaze and a clear glaze. |
 Goldfish |
Drawing and Painting Paul Klee Students studied and talked about Paul Klee’s “The Goldfish” painting identifying the elements of art: line, color, shape, pattern, form, space and value. The students drew goldfish in its environment and colored it with oil pastels. Students painted over the goldfish with a black wash. |
