Mixed Media Collage Eric Carle The teacher read the book “Walter the Baker” by Eric Carle. The students also watched a video on how Eric Carle texturized the paper he used for his collages. Then students made their own texturized paper. Lastly, students made animal collages out of construction paper and used the texturized papers as the background for their animal collage. |
 Recreating Georgia O'Keefe |
Drawing Georgia O'Keefe Students discussed the characteristics of realism and abstract artwork. Students looked at several master art works and determined which art works fit into either the style of realism or abstract. Students chose a Georgia O’Keefe painting to recreate using oil pastels, tempera paint or colored pencils. |

 Bird's Nest |
Ceramics Students made a pinch pot and added the appropriate texture to the pot to make it look like a bird’s nest. Students made birds and eggs for the nests. Students made roses using coils and assembled their clay pieces with a process known as “scoring” the clay. Lastly, the students glazed their bird’s nest with an under glaze and a clear glaze. |

Color Theory Students reviewed all color families and how to mix colors. Students colored and mixed the colors using oil pastels in the appropriate spaces: primary, secondary, tertiary, neutral, tints and shades. |
