11th American Literature Welcome to 11th grade Language Arts! The goal of this course is to expose students to a broad spectrum of American literature in order to obtain a greater understanding of the English language and American cultural history. This year, in addition to short stories, poetry, and non-fiction works, we will read such novels and plays as The Crucible, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, The Great Gatsby, and Raisin in the Sun, as well as one choice novel which they will be the basis for their research paper. This year will also continue working on grammar, vocabulary, and writing.

About Mrs. Cason I am originally from Alabama, but I have lived in the Augusta area for 22 years. I graduated from high school in 1998. I went on to graduate from Augusta State University in 2003 with a B.A. in Communications and Public Relations. By the time I finished college, I realized I wanted to teach in a high school setting, but continued to work in the business world for a time. I returned to ASU in 2005 and completed a Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2007. I left the business world, after 6 years in accounting and advertising with a local major manufacturing corporation, and finally joined the Columbia County School system during the 2007 summer school term. This is my second full year at GHS, and I'm looking forward to another exciting year and another wonderful group of kids.
