11th American Literature Email Mrs. Cason Welcome to 11th grade English! The goal of this course is to expose students to a broad spectrum of American literature in order to obtain a greater understanding of the English language and American cultural history. In addition to this examination of American Literature, students will be expected to summarize, analyze, and evaluate the literature covered in class discussions, written essays, term papers, projects, and oral presentations. In the course of covering literature, we will also study vocabulary and grammar. This year we will read such novels/plays as The Crucible, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, and The Great Gatsby.

About Mrs. Cason I am originally from Alabama but have lived in the Augusta area for 22 years. I graduated from high school in 1998. I then went on to graduate from Augusta State University in 2003 with a B.A. in Communications/Public Relations. By the time I finished college, I realized I wanted to teach in a high school setting, but continued to work in the business world. I returned to ASU in 2005 and completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching in 2007. I left the business world, after 6 years in accounting and advertising with a local major manufacturing corporation, and finally joined the Columbia County School system during the 2007 summer school term. The 2007-08 term is my first full year at Greenbrier, and it has been a great year so far. I was married during the holiday break on December 22, 2007, thereby thoroughly confusing my students with a mid-year name change from Collier to Cason.
