Genre Club
Each year, our 4th and 5th graders work very hard to acquire patches in our Genre Club. The Genre Club was designed to encourage students to read books in a variety of genres. To earn a patch, students must read books on their reading level in a particular genre. Upon completing the book students share a book report, book summary, demonstration (art/how-to book), or complete a Reading Counts test. The number of books required in each genre vaires depending on grade level. |

When students earn half of their patches, they are able to put up a green dragon in the Media Center with their name on it. Once they complete the Genre Club, by earning all patches, they put up a purple dragon. A purple dragon also serves as an invitation to our Genre Club celebration at the end of the year! |
