9th Grade Information
Welcome to 9th Grade! This is a very important year, and I am here to help you succeed in any way that I can. During first semester, you will read a class novel (Lord of the Flies), excerpts from mythology and The Odyssey, short stories, poetry, non-fiction, and The Miracle Worker. We will also focus on the writing process, as well as vocabulary and grammar. In second semester, you will read Romeo and Juliet, a class novel (The Outsiders), short stories, poetry, and non-fiction. We will continue perfecting our grammar and writing skills. At the end of second semester, students will take the state administered end-of-course test to show proficiency in the language arts at the ninth grade level. This EOCT will take the place of the 2nd semester exam and will count 15% of the semester’s grade.

** Students are given a monthly calendar that outlines daily assignments, due dates, and quiz and test dates.
