| Striving for Success in Fifth Grade at Cedar Ridge Elementary |
 |
Mission Statement |
My mission is to prepare students to become life-long learners. I believe that all students can learn and that learning is conducive in a non-threatening environment. My goal is to reach every child, the whole individual, in a positive, respectful, and dignified way. My goal is to raise their self-esteem and to believe that all students can be successful, no matter what obstacles they face. I accomplish my mission by encouraging students to try, by having high expectations, and by holding children accountable for their actions.

Curriculum |
| This year I will be teaching math and reading to the fifth grade students at Cedar Ridge Elementary. All students are to master the Georgia Performance Standards in math and reading to be promoted to the sixth grade. I am anxiously awaiting this challenge. I hope all are ready to achieve this task. I welcome inquiring minds into my classroom and look forward to working with all of you. |
Mathematical Quote |
It is as if mathematics were the vegetables of the academic dinner: Everyone knows that they are good for you, but no one forces you to eat them. Timothy S. Norfolk, "A Mathemitician's Apology? It's Time to Stop," FOCUS, Feb. 1997, pp. 14-15. (reprinted in Virginia Mathematics Teacher, VOl. 24, No. 1, Fall 1997, pp. 8-9.) |
