Plastic Slip Covers
There are 4 plastic slip covers in the STAR notebook. The first slip cover contains a STARletter that describes the contents of the notebook. The second slip cover is for the classroom rules. The third slip cover contains the county's school calendar to remind you of upcoming events and holidays. Finally, the last slip cover contains a spelling and vocabulary list. Students will be tested on these words during the week.
Agenda (Green folder)
1. Check and sign the agenda daily.
2. Homework is recorded daily by your child.
3. Weekly spelling words are hand-recorded on the agenda sheet.
4. The back of the agenda sheet is your child's reading log. Please record on the reading log the book and/or pages your child read and sign. This is considered a homework assignment and should be done on a daily basis.
RR (Red folder)
1. TOPS reports are kept on the left-hand side of the folder.
2. RR reading log is kept on the right-hand side of the folder.
*TOPS reports and the RR reading logs will accumulate. Please do NOT remove!
Important Papers (Yellow folder)
1. Left-hand side of the folder is for papers that need to be signed and returned. Make sure to check daily. Weekly grades go home on Friday and must be signed and returned on Monday.
2. Right-hand side of the folder is for papers that can be left at home. Remove papers daily.
Graphic Organizers & Study Guides (Blue folder)
This folder contains graphic organizers that we use and complete in class. Students will be tested on the organizers with their reading tests. Please make sure to review the organizers with them Thurs. nights before tests.
Parent Communication Divider
Open communication is most important to help ensure that your child stays on track and excels to the best of his or her ability. Notes are sent home on a regular basis. Please check the divider daily.
Word Wall Divider
This divider contains word wall words. Students may refer back to their word walls during class writing assignments and homework.
