With over 15,000 books, nine computers ,collections of software,many videos,filmstrip kits,and children's magazines, students have a variety of resources for use as they learn each day. Classes are scheduled to come once a week for book checkout but individuals are encouraged to come throughout the week as the need arises. Classes and small groups work with the media specialist on projects cooperatively planned with the classroom teacher. |

Accelerated Reader Each nine weeks, students-with the help of their teachers-set reading goals to accomplish. Based on their reading ability, students choose books to read, take a test on the computer, and try to obtain points with 85% accuracy on the tests. Click on the AR link and type in a title to see if a test is available, the book level, and points value. |

Each year a well known author or illustrator is invited to Blue Ridge to share with the students how they write their books. | Students Learn About Videography While Producing the Morning News Show |

WBRE-TV provides Blue Ridge Elementary students, faculty and staff with the pledge and patriotic song, a report on school events, lunch menu, weather conditions, and information from the principal each morning. Started in 1992, the newscast is the longest running non-commercial school produced television program in east central Georgia. Teachers and media specialist select a different group of five fifth grade students every two weeks to serve as news anchors, camera operators, and weather reporter. |
