Unit One: Folklore and Mythology
The Olympian Gods
9th College Prep Syllabus
The first unit will cover folklore and mythology. Students will learn about the different types of folklore and understand the qualities of folklore. Then, students will learn about the importance of mythology and the Greek gods and goddesses. They will read a selection of myths and complete a writing assignment and project based on mythology.
Homework
*Final draft of origin myth - due Thursday, Sept. 4

*Vocabulary Quiz - Friday (must know ALL vocab words)

*Group Project - due Monday, Sept. 8
Students are working on a group mythology project during class on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. All groups must be ready to present on Monday.

**Mythology Test - Thursday, Sept. 11
You can begin studying for the test now. You will need to know all of the information in your notes and handouts about the Greek gods and the myths that we have read. You will receive a review sheet at the end of this week.
