Star Words Activities
Popcorn Words We know that you are all working hard to help your busy bee learn to read our Kindergarten star words that are constantly popping up. In an effort to help, we have created the following PowerPoint activities for you to use at home! (Pump up the volume and have a great time!)
# 1 popcorn words
In "Learning Star Words," your child will hear each word as it "pops-up" onto the screen. There will then be time to repeat the word before the next word is presented. This activity is great for everyday practice when learning the words

Next, "Practicing Star Words" allows your child to practice reading the words without hearing them. This activity allows 5 seconds per word. Please monitor your child for accuracy as he/she practices using this PowerPoint.

Finally, "Reading Star Words" provides an opportunity for your child to practice reading the words at a rate of 30 words per minute (or 2 seconds per word), which he/she will be assessed. This activity is intended for use once most of the words are mastered at the "Practicing Star Words" level. Again, we ask that you closely monitor your child for accuracy during this activity.
