Governski's Busy Bees
2nd Grade
Stevens Creek Elementary
Black board Mrs. Governski's Homework Policy
In second grade, it is hoped that students will begin to develop a sense of responsibility for their schoolwork. As they grow, more responsibility will be expected of them, and to help build responsibility, homework is assigned on a regular basis. An assignment sheet for the week will be sent home in a HOMEWORK FOLDER on the FIRST DAY OF EACH SCHOOL WEEK. Each day, a specified assignment will be due, Monday - Thursday. Periodically, "Long Term Assignments" will be given that will require more time, and students will receive a detailed instruction sheet regarding how to do the assignment, and due date. We will explain the homework to students in class and will allow time to pack necessary books in book-bags each afternoon. We would like to encourage your child to become as independent as possible. Please be sure your child is packing his/her own book-bag and homework each night so that "early morning scramble" can be avoided! We want homework to be a positive experience. Your child should feel proud that it has been completed and packed up ready to be turned in the next day!

Your child should be doing approximately 20 minutes of homework each night. After written assignments are completed, students may wish to practice their math facts! Reading a library book would also be helpful. If you find that your child is consistently spending much more time on homework, and it seems to be a problem, please let me know. Sometimes a child needs a few tips on how to approach homework more efficiently, or assignments may need adjustment.
