Welcome to 4th grade! Please be mindful of the increase in volume, complexity, and rigor of fourth grade material as compared to that of previous years. Continue to support your child as he or she works to establish effective study habits. This will be the key to your child's success in fourth grade and in the years to come.

AR Students should read a book in his/her AR level for 30 minutes each night in order to meet their AR goals.
Reading:We have begun the unit in reading called SCIENCE FAIR. Story: How Ben Franklin Stole the Lightning" which will take seven days. Our test is scheduled for Thursday, March 25th. Students will need to review their vocabulary words and the story hunt in order to prepare for the selection test.
English: In grammar we will study commas, sentence fragments, and run-on sentences. We will have a short quiz, rather than a major test over these concepts. We will also be learning to use quotation marks for dialogue.
Writing: In writing we will focus on writing a response to literature.

Spelling Homework Students will have spelling homework throughout the week. Our spelling homework schedule is below:
Monday--Spelling activity. Tuesday--Complete spelling worksheet. Wednesday-- Students are encouraged to practice on Spellingcity.com Type in teacher's name: Jablonski and select story for the week. Thursday--Take a spelling pre-test at home. Friday--Test |

Absences from School When your child is absent from school, you must send in a note explaining the reason for the absence. Makeup work will be given the day the student returns to school. If missed assignments are not turned in within three days of the absence, the work is counted as a zero.

Signed Paper Folders Graded papers go home on Wednesday. Please sign the sheet outside the envelope and send the envelope (along with graded papers) back to school no later than Friday.

Science Science: We have begin reviewing all materials learned this year starting on March 22nd.
Social Studies: Students are expected to study Social Studies a little each night. Studying graphic organizers and study guides is the best use of study time. However, if we have not yet made those, students should study vocabulary words. We are currently studying Abolitionist/Suffrage Movements. |

It is time to begin preparing for the CRCT using the OAS online testing site if you haven't been using it already. Look for your child's username and password in this week's signed papers folder.
Remember field trip permission forms and contributions are due. If you haven't reserved your child's spot, please do so this week.
Parents we are in need of hand wipes, and kleenex... if you could donate these items to our class it would be greatly appreciated. |
