My name is Laura Johnson. I am so excited about teaching your child this year in second grade! I anticipate a wonderful year working together with you as a team for your child’s best educational experience. It is my goal to make this an enjoyable and memorable year for all of us. Communication between home and school is so important. I will do all that I can to keep you informed about what we do in class, as well as the progress of your child.
I have lived in Columbia County my entire life. I graduated from Lakeside High School and then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Augusta State University. Currently, I am working on a master’s degree at Cambridge College. I will graduate in January! I am starting my third year of teaching but this is my first year at River Ridge!
My husband, Philip, is a teacher as well. He teaches high school students and coaches football. We have a precious baby girl named Kaitlyn Rose. Philip and I love parenthood!
I am thrilled to be teaching second grade. It is my favorite! I chose to teach because I truly have a love and a heart for children. It is so rewarding to see children grow, achieve success, and become excited about learning. I know that every child can learn and achieve success. It is crucial that they have the self-confidence to try new things. They need to feel special about themselves. I also believe that learning can be fun and accomplished in a variety of challenging ways.
