Our Art Philosophy |
The art room at Brookwood is a place for creativity and exploration. The art disciplined based curriculum emphasizes the elements and principles of design. The program follows the National Standards for Art Education as well as Columbia County's Quality Core Curriculum Guidelines (QCC's) for the visual arts.
All grades have art class once a week throughout the year. Students are challenged to use problem solving skills to create final products that reflect particular art techniques and concepts presented. Each grade level builds on the knowledge learned the previous year.
All students participate in an annual art show that has become a tradition at Brookwood and is one of the school’s largest events. This is a great experience for the children. Student artwork is always visible in the hallways of the school and is displayed throughout the community as well. Students are taught that what they learn through their art is important and should be displayed with pride.
