Author Kathleen Duey at an autograph session |
Visit the author's website On March 31, 2006, Bel Air will be honored to host our visiting author for this school year. Her name is Kathleen Duey, and she has written over 50 books! Ms. Duey grew up in Colorado. She was an avid reader and knew at an early age that she wanted to be an author, however, she did not start writing for publication until she was thirty-five years old.
Her life story is fascinating. She chose to live without electricity for many years. She knows how to do so many things that most people today don't. She can milk a goat, make yogurt and cheese and dry fruits and vegetables using nothing but the sun. One season she canned 400 quarts of food using a wood stove. In the past, she has made bread three times a week, grinding the flour by hand! She has so much knowledge of talents from long ago, and that knowledge has helped her in writing historical fiction.
As well as her historical fiction, Ms. Duey has written a wonderful series on horses, a series on unicorns and a series on natural disasters. Her most recently published writings include a series of magic fiction and a series called "Time Soldiers."
Our students (and teachers as well) are in for such a treat and a learning experience when Kathleen Duey visits Bel Air. |
