Lisa Kingery

My name is Lisa Kingery and this is my 12th year teaching at Lakeside Middle! I grew up in Columbia County and graduated from Evans High School in 1992. I am a 1996 graduate of Georgia College in Milledgeville. I began teaching at Lakeside Middle School just a few months after graduation. I soon went back to school and graduated with a Masters Degree in Interrelated Education from Augusta State University. I recently graduated from Cambridge College with an Educational Specialist degree in Leadership.

I currently teach Language Arts and Academic Elective to seventh and eighth graders in my classroom. I use a lot of whole group, small group, and individual direct instruction. In Language Arts I focus on writing skills, as well as parts of speech. The students also read frequently and practice comprehension skills. Academic Elective is a time to get organized, practice study skills, complete unfinished work, and make up tests. I also teach collaborative Language Arts with Mrs. Plunkett in her 7th grade classroom and collaborative 6th grade math with Mrs. Cole.

There are many activities I enjoy in my spare time. One of my favorites is traveling. I'd have to say my favorite trip was my most recent cruise to the Western Caribbean! In the summer, you can often find me on the beach at Hilton Head (or shopping there)! In the fall I love going to UGA football games with my parents and friends! You may see me walking after school, as it is one my favorite daily activities. Although I lead a busy life, I love working with your children and the positive impact I have on their lives.
