Tests
All chapter tests will count twice. Tests will be announced in class and on the 5th grade calendar. Students are responsible for writing the date of their chapter test in their planner. Study guides will be given for chapter tests; however, students will need to know and understand the concepts of the study guide. The test will not be identical to the study guide. We will try our very best to avoid tests on Wednesdays and Fridays due to Horizons.

Daily Grades
Anything that is not a chapter test is a daily grade (i.e. graphic organizers, worksheets, quizzes, etc.) Daily grades will only count once. Please understand that some quizzes are announced and some are not. If a quiz is not announced, then it will be an “open book pop quiz.” Therefore, it is important for students to keep their notebook in order and write the notes exactly as I do. An open book pop quiz should be an easy grade for students to earn if they pay attention in class.

Experiment/Project Grades:
We will do many experiments and projects in class. These grades will be weighted as 10 points (instead of 100). Points are earned for listening and following directions and working with others cooperatively.
