GTMS Chess Club is now being offered from 2:45 - 3:45 on Tuesday afternoons. Please check out the information sheet if you are interested in the club. Membership is open to any interested student.

What is MIE?
A program that gives students support, fills in any gaps in their mathematical knowledge, reinforces basic math skills, and exposes students to concepts they will see in their core math classes.
Approximately 40% of the class will be focused on sharpening basic math skills and addressing areas that students struggle with. The other 60% of class will be spent introducing students to new material and concepts that they will master in their core math classes.
Homework will not be given in MIE classes since students will regularly be assigned homework on the same content in their core math classes.
A large part of each student's grade will be dependent on their EFFORT in the classroom and their participation. Participation grades are impacted by unexcused absences so it is essential that each student attends class everyday!

2- 2 pocket folders with prongs
loose leaf paper (wide rule)
2- #2 pencils a
1 – red ink pen
*a pencil pouch is recommended so students can keep up with their small items

I want to let you know about a new program I am offering to all the students enrolled in the Math Instructional Extension course. On Monday and Thursday afternoons I am going to have an Afterschool Homework Hour. All students currently in the MIE class are eligible to attend. The only requirement is that they bring a note from a parent/guardian stating that they may attend the Homework Hour. Without a written note the student will not be able to stay afterschool. We will begin at 2:45pm and end at 3:45pm. Students will need to be picked-up promptly at 3:45. Students may work on homework for any subject however the main purpose is to provide additional help in Math.
