Classifying Snacks
We did an in class activity where we sorted snacks into seven levels. We sorted by the questions asked in the graphic organizer until we got down to one candy (the peanut M&M). We then connected this concept to the scientific classification Kingdom-Phylum-Class-Order-Family-Genus-Species.

Earth Science
How does weathering change the Earth's surface?
Students filled this out with partners using p. C7 after watching a movie from United Streaming. We discussed as a whole group in class.

How can I tell the difference between weathering, erosion, and depostion?
Students received one of the vocabulary words and acted them out in a game of charades. Then, we filled out the triple venn diagram as a whole group. Students also watched a Bill Nye on Erosion.

How and where are mountains formed?
Students filled out this graphic organizer in partners using p. C16 after watching a Brainpop on Mountain formation.

How and where are volcanoes formed?
Students filled out this graphic organizer in partners using p. C17 after watching a Brainpop on volcanoes. We will also watch a Bill Nye on Volcanoes and Magic School Bus "Blows its Top".

How and where do earthquakes occur?
Students filled out this graphic organizer in partners using p. C18 after watching a Brainpop on earthquakes. We will also watch a Bill Nye on Earthquakes.
