The Hearing Impaired program is a special needs program that serves all of the deaf or hard of hearing children in Columbia County. Students identified with hearing losses may qualify for services through this program. Deaf and hard of hearing students are served based on their individualized needs. This service may take place in the regular classroom, or the HI resource classroom depending upon the IEP developed by the child's parents, teachers and administrators. The HI Resource teacher also serves as a consultant to the teachers in the regular classrooms, giving ideas and advice about how to adapt their classrooms to the needs of the hearing impaired learner. |
