Words Their Way |
| We use a developmental spelling program called "Words Their Way." A pre-test will be administered during the first week of school which will provide us with diagnostic data. We will use the data to find the most appropriate spelling lists for each individual student. It is because of this developmental approach that there may be more than one or two lists of spelling words. Students need to make sure they have their list of words that are assigned each week. We hope to make spelling more personalized and meaningful. |

Wordly Wise |
| We will begin using Wordly Wise books every other week the second nine weeks of school. These books are great for oral reading fluency practice activities, grammar, vocabulary practice, and reading comprehension. They are well loved and some are in need of repair. Please be gentle with them and handle with care. Treat that as you would treat a textbook. We do not want to lose one of these valuable treasures. I have seen great gains in student achievement with the use of the Wordly Wise language series. |
