Welcome to a brand new year at Lakeside Middle School. My name is Brenda Nolin, and I teach sixth grade language arts and social studies on Team 6-1. Other members of Team 6-1 include: Mark Taylor--science, Mrs. Pettit--math, and Mrs. Cole--math and social studies. We are looking forward to a great year with your children. In language arts, we are currently covering short stories and the eight parts of speech. The eight parts of speech includes: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. Please assist your child in reviewing these terms. Spelling tests are also given every Friday, and the spelling are emailed home on a weekly basis. Please let me know if you have any concerns or if your child needs extra help.

In social studies, we are covering the Western World this year. Right now, we are studying chapters concerning geography and the influence of geography on cultures. Your child should be reading Chapter 1 at this time. Again, let me know if you have any concerns.
