Philosophy of Education |
| My philosophy of education starts with the individual. I hope to look at each student as an individual, both personally and academically. I believe that in order to reach each student academically, I must first reach each student personally. I hope to be able to acknowledge each students individual academic level and then help him or her to academically improve to the next level. I believe that I am not only responsible for teaching a student academic skills, but I am responsible for teaching him or her life skills. I might not be able to connect with each student academically, but if I can teach them something that they can take into high school and adulthood, then I feel I have done the best I could have with that student. |

Background Information |
I finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up, and that was a teacher...although I didn't "grow up" until later in life! I graduated from Augusta State University in 2004. I spent my first three years teaching 8th grade science, social studies, and Instructional Extention math at Riverside Middle School. I decided to move to Greenbrier Middle for my fourth year of teaching because the opportunity to teach Life Science became available. I am now in my third year at GMS and I still love it! How time flies when you are having fun!!!
This is my second year teaching math full-time. I have taught Instructional Extension math here at Greenbrier Middle for 7th grade and at Riverside Middle for 8th grade. In the past, I taught 8th grade math during the CRCT summer school session. Math has always been one of my favorite subjects. I hope to take my enthusiasm for math and transfer that to my students as I teach the concepts we are to learn this year.
As for the future, I plan on futhering my education by attaining a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Education. I will complete this degree December 2009. |
