I want to take this opportunity to share a little about myself. My name is April Pond and I have been fortunate enough to teach at River Ridge since the doors first opened in 2005. I spent those years teaching first grade and prior to that second grade at Sue Reynolds Elementary in Richmond County. This will be my first year teaching third grade and I am extremely excited to teach my favorite subjects: Math, Science, and Social Studies.
My husband, Arvin, and I have 2 wonderful children. Mason, our son, is 11 and in the sixth grade at Riverside Middle. Our daughter, Claire, is 10 and in the fifth grade at River Ridge. We are huge Georgia Bulldog fans so from time to time you will hear your children talking about the Bulldogs. Sorry Tech fans! When we are not cheering on the Dawgs, we are busy with after school activities – gymnastics, football, baseball, softball, and basketball.
I am a Georgia native and graduated from Evans High School and Augusta State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have received a Reading Endorsement Certificate from ASU and am pursuing my Masters Degree.
I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process as this is a team effort. The difference it makes is priceless and will make it an exceptional third grade year.
I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year and thank you for giving me this opportunity. Please contact me with your questions and concerns. |
