Hi, I'm Mrs. Tina Powell, |
I am a seasoned Severely/Profoundly Intellectually Disabled Teacher. I hale from the Garden State of New Jersey but did my college years in the South. I am a Graduate of Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. I am married to a wonderful man named Sherman and am the mother of 3 lovely children, Christopher 21, Cicely 19 and Cory 18. My hobbies include singing, watching old movies, reading books and sports.

Objectives For Parents With Children With Severe or Profound Intellectual Disabilities |
*Allow the child to do what they can for themselves *Patience to allow the child to respond to simple commands *Speak to your child as though he or she understands you *Expect them to follow your directions *Speak and treat you child age appropriately, so that everyone else will |
Change in the Focus of Curriculum |
The primary consideration is no longer how many skills the child learns... Rather
How well the child functions at home and in the community. |
