Information about Accelerated Reader
Our school uses the Accelerated Reader program to encourage and improve reading. Our program is web based so we have access to EVERY AR test available.(thousands of tests!) To check and see if a book is an AR book...Click on the "Accelerated Reader" link in the toolbar at the top of the page.

AR goals: Each student has a personalized point goal. At the end of the 9 weeks, we will have a school-wide celebration for students that have met their AR goal.

Policies and Procedures
Our media center operates on a flexible schedule. Each class has the option to come as a whole group for check-out. Some teachers prefer to send small groups throughout the week. Pre-K and Kindergarten come weekly for storytime. They sign up each week. Grades 1-5 sign up for lessons and story time as needed. Teachers may collaborate with the media specialist so that lessons taught in the media center can reinforce those taught in the classroom. Media skills will also be taught. In addition to these lessons, small groups may be scheduled to come in and work on special projects. Our media center also has 8 student computers that can be used to search for books or to research information for a project.

Students may check out:

Pre-K - 1st: one book (Some teachers may give approval for students to check out 2 books)
2nd - 5th: 2 books

Parents: Please visit Home Connect. This allows you to keep track of how your child is doing with Accelerated Reader. You can view their history and see their current averages and points.
