Being a Star Student is so special. Our star student this week is ... |
A WEEK TO SHINE! Being the Student of the Week is a real highlight for my students. Sharing pictures and information about themselves and their families is lots of fun. Each student of the week receives a book written by their classmates based on the information that our special student shares. A poster hangs in our room the entire week for everyone to see. We encourage a visit from a family member sometime that week to read to us, or possibly share something about their job. Usually families will bring a snack for all of us to share together. THE BEST FOR LAST -TONY, OUR CLASS MASCOT GOES HOME WITH OUR SHINING STAR FOR THE WEEKEND. Along with Tony there is a journal that is completed during his visit. Wherever our star goes with his family, Tony goes along. On Monday, when Tony returns the class gathers around to read about TONY'S WEEKEND ADVENTURE. Photos can be taken and added to Tony's journal. |

WHAT IS A GOLD PAW? |
Is there a gold paw on your paper? Having a gold paw on a paper is quite an achievement. What a gold paw shows is that a student took his/her time when they were writing. I'll be looking for papers with outstanding letter formation, and spacing just where it should be. Getting over the smudgy erasing is what we are working on now. I am so proud of what has been accomplished to this point. Just understanding when to use upper and lower case letters, and writing in the correct spaces, and oh that spacing between words written. Think before you write, and try your best are two of my favorite slogans. IT WILL TAKE TIME, but I am always going for the s-t-r-e-t-c-h, never just settle for OK. |

Who will our reader be? |
Parents In Our Classroom A fantastic way for parents to be part of our class is to be a MYSTERY READER. Sharing a favorite book from when you were a child, or reading your child's favorite bedtime story is what we want you to do. Some parents have worn costumes based on a character from the story. Some parents like to do a follow-up acitivity when the story is over. Sometimes our Mystery Reader will bring in a snack for us to share. These are just suggestions, let YOUR imagination run WILD!
We have had some wonderful readers, come and join us. There are still dates available.
Contact Sara Lue and she will set up a time to you to visit.

School Store - sign-up to be a store manager. |
Earning coins for making good choices. Our class earns coins for their good choices. Being on task, getting the job done, is rewarded in our class. Several times a month we have parent volunteers come in to help the children "spend" their coins. Since we are always "teaching," parents help the children make change, and sometimes trade coins for other coins that will have the same value. This is such a popular activity. Thank you store-keepers! Several Fridays a month is our shopping time. Just check your list to see when it will be your turn to be the "shop keeper."
|
Our school store is open. Thank you to our store managers. Our shopping reward day is always quite exciting. Store keepers were busy with many 'green light' customers. Extra pennies are being earned with compliments our class receives from other teachers in the building. This reward system is a great motivator. |
