A Super Teacher and her Super Class!

Super Teacher's job is never done. |
Everyday is such a busy day... Our reading groups and math groups are such an important part of what first grade is all about. We are so fortunate to have Ms. Drewry our para-professional, with us to assure that we have small group teaching in both math and reading. Parent volunteers make our great program even better. With our volunteers we can have three small groups - rotating through 3 stations during this 90 minute block. Wow, we are accomplishing so much. |

Ms. Drewry - the Best Para-Professional in the WHOLE, WIDE, WORLD. |
Ms. Drewry encourages her group in understanding their word sorts. Small group instruction allows us to differentiate to meet the needs of the students in our class. We teach in small groups for math, and reading. We rotate throughout the room to watch and encourage our writers after I have modeled the writing lesson. Many of our assessments are done in small group setting as well. This allows students who are stronger in certain areas to move along at their own pace. Other students are given all of the time and support that they need. |
Drew is busy sorting words. |
Sorting in order to be a better speller. Each Monday our class is introduced to their words for the week. Students are working with the words that meet their learning ability. We sort on Mondays, looking for similarities, and differences. We are on a search for vowel patterns. Understanding the vowel pattern is a valuable tool for decoding unfamiliar words. |
Patty is so careful placing her words in their correct sort. |

Ryan knew exactly how to sort his words. |

Shweta and Caty are great table mates. They are working hard to get the sorts in the correct columns. |
