Class Information |
Students in my classes are expected to show respect and to act appropriately. Following these two "rules" will eliminate most problems that should arise. Both are explained on the handout received on the second day of class. Students are expected to bring all necessary materials to class daily, without exception.
Parents and students are encouraged to contact me by email for the quickest response. You may leave a message at extension #375 on voice mail. |
Syllabus |
In Senior Literature, we will complete a survey of the periods in British Literature as well as looking at World Literature pieces. We will also read required novels and one optional novel of the student's choice. As we read each selection, students will both examine the literary content and relate the message of the piece to life. We will focus on how literature is a mirror ~ and we will try to see ourselves! We will complete all components of the Senior Project!
Ninth grade English students will be working on the curriculum basics as well as learning organization and study skills. This class has a variety of learning styles, and we will be utilizing various strategies for success! Remember, we are playing the game!

Assignments |
We will be concentrating on writing this year, as well as working to improve our reading comprehension levels. We will begin with some grammar review of weak areas, but we will work mainly on increasing our level of sophistication and improving our technique. We will read and analyze a variety of texts to help increase both our skills and knowledge.
All assignments must be completed according to the guidelines given. We will study literature in units, with each lasting about two weeks. Unit tests will be announced at least two days in advance. Unit tests will include the history of the time period as well as questions about each selection. Students will also be required to discuss relevant ideas.
