All About Your Teacher My name is Dottie Story and this is my fourth year teaching. I have lived in Evans most of my life and am a product of Columbia County Schools. I received a B.S. in elementary education at Columbia International University and and am currently working on my Master’s degree. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 5 years. We live in Ivy Falls with our two canine children, Casey and Bauer. I enjoy gardening, quilting, organizing, and spending time with my family.
I have a great desire and passion for teaching young children. I like making learning fun and exciting. My goal each year is to instill a love of learning in each child. I am delighted about teaching at Cedar Ridge this year. Please call, e-mail, write, or stop by and visit anytime. I am always available to answer questions or address any concerns you may have regarding your child.

Philosophy of Teaching To provide students with a safe environment, physically, and intellectually, where they will develop a love of learning and gain the knowledge and skills necessary to move to the next grade level, function in their environment, and ultimately become positive contributors to society. A combination of visual, kinesthetic, and auditory teaching strategies, with an emphasis on hands-on instruction, is essential to engage and meet the needs of the varied learning styles in an elementary classroom. Instructional strategies should encourage student success, helping students develop a sense of self-worth and a "can do" attitude. |
