| We are looking at the growth of European nations and the spread of Europe's culture to colonies all over the world. We will see how the industrial revolution enabled Europe to dominate the world until World War I caused a shakeup and the destruction of several European Empires. |

6th Grade Language Arts |
| Students will have weekly spelling lists. They will be reading short stories and poetry of several genres and practice writing their own stories and essays. We will emphasize proper grammar and sentence structure in student compositions. Students will learn how to analyze literary works. In October we will read the novel THE CAY. |
