Overview |
All first grade through fifth grade classes have music 45 minutes each week. All kindergarten classes have music 30 minutes each week. These are general music classes which include the use of Orff instruments, recorders, singing, movement and listening.
Each year every grade level performs a musical for PTO and for the students at BRE. The programs are connected to the classroom curriculum.The schedule for performances in 2007-2008 is as follows:
October 1st Third Grade - "Charlotte's Web"
December 3rd Fifth Grade - "Christmas Carol"
February 11th Fourth Grade - "Reach for the Stars"
March 24th Second Grade - "How Does Your Garden Grow?"
May 12th First Grade - "Color Factory"
The BRE Chorus meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00-8:35 a.m. This is an auditioned group of 80 fourth and fifth grade students. Auditions are held in August during the first three weeks of school. They perform in the community and at Blue Ridge Elementary during the school year. Each spring they travel to Atlanta to perform at the state capitol. |
