If your progress report is not a grand, glorious success, here are a few suggestions:
1. Accept the fact that you must read the novel and then read it as assigned.
2. Daily review is a reality for vocabulary -- 5-10 minutes a day for anyone whose strength is not vocab. (And that would be many of you at this point.) Your vocabulary skills will get better as you work harder; I see it happen every year. Please use the tools I've already advised you of: FLASH CARDS and THE TWO WEB LINKS FOR VOCAB
3. Be attentive in class. Ask questions when you don't understand. Don't try to talk with classmates or do other things when I'm instructing your class or when work needs to be done.
4. Do your your assignments (classwork and homework) all the time, even when you don't feel like it. You are growing up, and grownups often have to do things they don't want to do.
5. All of you CAN be successful in this class. "Successful" doesn't always mean an A or B, but it DOES mean academic improvement and true effort.
