Bringing Up Grades on Saturdays!
WANTED: Bel Air Students who want to improve their Reading and Math skills!
HOW: Ask your teacher if you qualify to attend B.U.G.S!
WHAT IS B.U.G.S?: It stands for Bringing UP Grades on Saturdays! Students work on improving skills and getting a jump start on the next week’s lessons in small group settings with a variety of teaching strategies.
WHEN DOES B.U.G.S. MEET?: Saturday from 9am to noon.
HOW MUCH DOES B.U.G.S. COST?: This program is funded by the state and only requires parents to provide transportation to and from the program.

B.U.G.S. Information
B.U.G.S. is designed for children who are recommended by their classroom teacher because they need additional assistance to strengthen their math and/or reading skills. B.U.G.S does not meet on three -day weekends or holiday weeks. This is our fifth year of implementing B.U.G.S. This additional reinforcement on Saturdays has had a positive effect on every student’s classroom performance and self –confidence. A special awards program is planned for April, where each student is recognized for his/her personal accomplishments.
B.U.G.S. is a small group setting that uses a variety of strategies. During this time, your child will work on strengthening reading/math skills and also get a jump- start on vocabulary, facts, concepts, spelling etc. that will be covered the following week in classroom. There is no cost to you and children do not need to bring any supplies. You are only responsible for transporting your child to and from this program. You may drop off your child at 8:50, but you must pick him/her up promptly at noon in the front parking lot.
We have scheduled the B.U.G.S. Saturdays into sessions so that we can celebrate with special events at the end of each semester. It is important that you and your child commit for him/her to attend to every session possible. Children who demonstrate the most progress and improvement are those who have the best attendance. Please record the following dates on your home calendar.
Dates that BUGS will meet: Sept 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, Oct 6th, 13th, 27th, Nov 3rd, 10th and 17th
Dates for the second semester TBA
Please note that we do not meet the weekend of the school carnival or the Saturdays before and after Spring Break!
