First Grade Learning Experiences
First grade is a major change from Kindergarten. Expectations of students are higher. Academics are of the utmost importance. Students are expected to work more independently.
Standards-based instruction occurs daily.
-- Reading, reading, reading!!
-- Special themes such as Dr. Seuss, bears, apples, etc.
-- Math
-- Science
-- Social Studies
-- Field trips, including a trip to the zoo
-- AR participation
-- Newsletters, daily papers, parent/teacher, student-led conferences, mid-term progress reports, report card
