Our goal for the year is for your child to become more aware of himself/herself and the fascinating world around them. This first year of school is an important time in their lives. It will have a profound effect on how they function throughout life. The students will be administered the GKIDS assessment throughout the year. The county report card will reflect the Georgia Performance Standards for Kindergarten. Some of the areas that will be assessed during the year include:

Language Arts Standards Recognizes and names all upper and lowercase letters Verbalizes all consonant and short vowel sounds Blends individual sounds to read one syllable words Prints all letters accurately to form words Understands basic principles of writing Identifies sight words at a rate of 30 words per minute
Math Standards Writes numerals though 20 to label sets Identifies coins and their values Models addition and subtraction problems Compares objects by length, capacity, weight, and height Understands the measurement of calendar time (days of week, months, seasons) Identifies two and three-dimensional shapes Demonstrates knowledge of spatial relationships |
