Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten! We have 2 lottery funded Pre-K classes of 20 children here at Brookwood. Each class is staffed with a certified classroom teacher and paraprofessional. Columbia County has adopted the High Scope curriculum where our children learn through play and movement. We do not complete worksheets or have homework, but we do sing and move to music, read, paint and play together everyday. We also learn poems and nursery rhymes, make fun creations, and cook on a regular basis. Our days are planned around themes like Fall, Foods, Sea Life, and Nursery Rhymes. The curriculum areas that we teach are Language and Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Social and Emotional, Creative Expression, and Physical Development. These areas are divided into standards that are aligned with Georgia's Quality Core Curriculum. We encourage all parents to spend time in the classroom to learn more about their child's Pre-K experience.
