MEDICATION |
If a child requires medication (prescription or nonprescription) the following procedures will be followed. Controlled drugs must be in the original container with the name of the patient, the prescribing physician, and the pharmacy filling the prescription. Written parental approval is required before the school administration will dispense medication. A Request to Administer Medication form may be obtained from the office. Any medication brought to the school by students must be given to the appropriate school authority immediately upon arrival. Prescribed medication should only be administered as directed by the physician. Any other medication, including aspirin free pain relievers, should only be administered as specifically directed by the parent. All written consents must include the name of the student, dosage, time(s) and date(s) for administration. Open ended consent (i.e. "Administer as needed") will not be honored. If a child has a specific medical condition that necessitates particular medical treatment, the school should be notified and an emergency medical plan will be mutually developed to ensure the appropriate medical treatment.
