"Accelerated Reader" is a computerized reading management program teachers have been using at Evans Elementary since 1994 to encourage independent reading among students. The software for the program, marketed by a company called Renaissance Learning, makes available to students many reading comprehension tests they can take on AR books they’ve read to earn points toward various rewards. The Accelerated Reader Wall of Fame in the front hallway features photographs of outstanding readers at our school. Students may access AR tests on computers in their classrooms, in the computer lab, and in the library. This year our principal, Mr. Weinand, generously supported our school's upgrade to "Renaissance Place," thereby making all published Accelerated Reader tests available online to all students at Evans Elementary.
